The Army Mishap Investigation Course (AMIC) develops personnel to support Installation-level Mishap Investigations. All commands are encouraged to identify potential investigation board presidents (AR 385-10) and provide them this opportunity to attain the knowledge and skills necessary to complete a mishap investigation to Army standards. The course is also beneficial to anyone who may potentially serve as a mishap investigation board member.
The nine-day course covers regulatory requirements, board organization, the investigation process, medical and legal aspects, photography, data collection, witness interviewing, human factors, data analysis, and report assembly. Attendees of the Ground Safety Officer Course (GSOC), the Aviation Safety Officer Course (ASOC), and the CP-12 Course receive the same curriculum training and do not need to attend AMIC.
