The National Fire Prevention Administration (NFPA) reported that in 2012, home structure fires caused 83% of the civilian fire deaths and 78% of the civilian fire injuries.  They cite cooking as the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries, and smoking as the leading cause of home fire deaths for decades.
