A 46-year-old Sergeant Major assigned to U.S. Army Special Operations Command died 1 July 2018 from injuries sustained during a hard landing while conducting military free-fall parachute training near Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The Soldier was air evacuated to a regional medical center, but passed away from his injuries four days later. An installation-level accident investigation board is investigating this mishap.
