It was just like any other spring Saturday morning on Okinawa, Japan. We were donning our gear and getting ready for the first of two dives that day. Little did I realize this would be one of the most exciting things I’d do while in Okinawa.

I was a young buck sergeant at Fort Irwin, California, in 2004 when I purchased my first four-wheel-drive vehicle, a 1986 Chevy Blazer.

I believe a little bit of every instructor pilot or pilot in command goes into a new PC. A young aviator’s knowledge and attitude is a direct reflection of the pilots he flew with as a PI.
