As the Christmas season approaches, many of us are decorating our homes, finalizing our wish lists and planning big meals. During this exciting time, however, we must not forget the holidays also bring an increased risk of home fires.

As I transferred out of the civilian workforce and transitioned into my military career, I understood how to keep myself safe, but written safety and safety theory were not even on my radar.

Falls are a leading cause of accidents in the workplace, and ladders are involved in a high percentage of these incidents. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports that each year nearly 300 people die from ladder-related injuries.
