Unexplored Hazards

Many chemicals that at one point were used frequently with little concern were later found to be toxic. Some even resulted in long-term effects on those who were exposed to them. But how do we identify chemicals that still haven’t been studied enough to prove to be the cause of disease, much less implement controls for them?

Eye on the Ball

There wasn’t much I could’ve done to prevent that ball from hitting me. I didn’t see the little rise in the field that lofted the ball into my face. However, while I couldn’t have predicted what happened, I could’ve protected my eyes.

Have You Conducted Sustainment Training Lately?

A Risk on the Road

I immediately got out of my car and heard a baby crying. I thought, “What have I done?” I called 911 and then asked the lady in the car, “Are you and the baby all right?”

Oil Leak over the Andes? No Problemo!

My co-pilot and I were on the final leg of a three-leg mission. We’d taken off from Barranquilla on the northern coast and were flying south to Bogota. Just about halfway along the 1.5-hour route at 26,000 feet, I looked out my right-side window and noticed streaks of fluid around the No. 2 engine.
