A Ride to Forget

It was a typical Monday morning as we prepared for a motorcycle ride. After our usual safety brief, my wife and I, along with two other senior NCOs and their wives, hit the road. I had no idea my life was about to change forever.

Gone Too Soon

The few lights near the road flashed by on either side of Staff Sgt. Mark Jimenez as he accelerated on his Suzuki Hayabusa. He could hardly imagine what the nearly 200 horsepower of his first motorcycle could do. Nor could he imagine what was about to happen to him.

Young and Invincible

Looking back, I realize how lucky I was I didn’t kill myself. The truth is I was safer jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft than I was riding on that motorcycle. I’d been trained to jump out of airplanes, but I hadn’t been trained to ride a motorcycle.
